The Steve McQueens refuse to be pedestrian; they don’t live in the transient, or the touch-and-go. Swerving between cool seduction and gripping magnetism, they are ambitious to light the world up with their progressive brand of self- titled neo- vintage soul- funk.
They have played to growing attention at festivals like Indonesia’s Java Jazz, Singapore’s SingJazz and Getai Soul, at the London Indig02, Japan’s Summersonic, Australia’s OZAsia and Brisbane Festival, South Korea’s Zandari Festa, Jarasum International Jazz Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Fest and Jazz By the Bay in Perth. In 2017, they performed at Peter Barakan’s Live Magic! Festival, as part of their Japan tour.
This year, the band headlined Singapore’s very own City65 Music Festival, and are due to embark on their third tour to Japan in August.
The quartet formed in 2013 as a forging of four mercurial talents - Ginny Bloop, Joshua Wan, Jase Sng and Aaron James Lee- in Singapore, a small country punching above its weight in Southeast Asia’s music scene. Critically acclaimed and with the fervent backing of Incognito guitarist and producer Jean- Paul “Bluey” Maunick, The Steve McQueens will leave an indomitable mark on any listener with their music.
The band's 3rd record “TERRARIUM” was released in September 2017.
